Forest Conflict Links
In this section you will find:
ARD Resources
ARD, under a task order entitled "Managing Conflict in Asian Forest Communities", is working with USAID’s Asia and Near East Bureau and several USAID missions in the region to analyze the types and causes of forest conflict, identifying approaches to reducing conflict, and communicating the seriousness of this problem to governments, the private sector, the donor community, and the US public.
On December 1 and 2, 2005, USAID, The Forests Dialogue (TFD), and ARD, Inc. organised the conference "Building Partnerships to Reduce Forest Conflict in Asia". The agenda (with links to presentations), participant list, a summary of the conference, and documents presented at the conference are available on the ARD website. On this page you can also find reports of the ARD project "Managing Conflict in Asian Forest Communities" funded by USAID. The task order also has a website at: http://www.forestconflict.com/index.htm

USAID Resources
Cross-cutting program on Conflict Management and Mitigation
Violence, or the imminent threat of violence, can destabilize a society in ways that traditional USAID programs are often ill-prepared to identify and address. USAID is taking a lead role in designing development assistance programs that better address the causes and consequences of violent conflict. See also the task order: "Managing Conflict in Asian Forest Communities"
International Crisis Group Resources
The Conflict Prevention Partnership is a cooperative effort by the International Crisis Group, International Alert, the European Policy Centre and the European Peace Building Liaison Office.

ETFRN Resources
The theme of the ETFRN News 43/44 was "Forests and conflicts".
While there is much international debate on security and governance issues, sustainable management of natural resources appears to be a less hot issue. The articles in this special edition of the ETFRN News show that the two are in fact closely linked.
David Kaimowitz, director-general of CIFOR and guest-editor of this special issue, has written an overview article on forests and armed conflict for the newsletter that has been copied here. Other background articles, case studies etc clasified by region of the newsletter can be accessed through this list.
