PROFOR and the NFP Facility are co-sponsoring a special edition of the ETFRN News on major themes of national forest programmes (nfps), to be published in the Fall of 2004. The ETFRN News is published twice a year by the European Tropical Forest Research Network (ETFRN). It has a distribution of over 3,700 copies worldwide and it is also available online.
The ETFRN News nfp issue
Nfp is a general term for a framework used for the planning and implementation of forest activities in a country at the national (or decentralised) level. The general objectives of the nfp edition will be to present an overview of current issues and experiences in nfp implementation to a wide audience in a clear and concise way, and to review policy research in a manner that serves to improve its accessibility and relevance to forestry professionals. The edition will:
The themes to be covered will be based on contributions received, but might be expected to cover some of the following:
As guest editors for this ETFRN News issue, we are calling for short contributions on ongoing, planned or completed research projects and practical experiences on national forest programme development, implementation, revision and monitoring.
ETFRN News articles are short, between 200 and 1000 words, and should be accessible to non-specialists, i.e. relatively jargon-free. Articles should present a summary, including objectives and (preliminary) results, and contain full contact details for readers requiring further information.
Announcements of up to 200 words pertaining to other sections of the newsletter will also be considered for publication (Research Cooperation Sought; Funding; Other News; International Meetings). These do not necessarily need to deal with the newsletter theme.
For more detailed guidelines for authors please contact ETFRN@etfrn.org, while manuscripts should be sent to the ETFRN CU before 12 July 2004.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
